Updates and Info on Fellow Writer's

Fellow writer Cindy Pon is giving away 1 (maybe 2!) ARCs of her debut novel, Silver Phoenix. Just visit her blog and comment your favorite Chinese cuisine! Not only is it worth it just for the ARC, but Cindy is one of the most upbeat, positive forces of nature to have around. Her blog will make anyone smile!

In other fellow writerly news, Jaye Wells (who I must note is also a fellow DFW Texan!) recently posted the first chapter of Red-Headed Stepchild, coming out end of March, on her blog. I was wowed by the voice, and the character is spunky and the kind I want to keep reading about! I'll definitely be snatching it from the bookstores when it releases. If you like vampires, and strong willed spunky heroines, this book is for you!

And Gretchen McNeil, who was recently signed with Ginger Clark of Curtis Brown, finally jumped on the blog bandwagon and is sharing her wonderful, quirky humor with the rest of the web world. Go check her out! I know I'll be waiting for news on which House snatches up her debut novel, The Witch's Eye.

Thanks to Chandler Craig for mentioning Jill Wheeler's recent blog about success stories! What writer doesn't want to read about another writer's success and entrance into the biz? It's encouraging, to say the least!

And lastly, Miss Snark's First Victim is holding her monthly Secret Agent contest. Be sure to check her blog and subscribe so you get poked as soon as she posts Jan. 12 for submission entries. This time it's the first 50 instead of 75, so be ready! Finished manuscripts only, the first 250 words.

For anyone in the DFW area, I'll be attending my first DFW Writer's Workshop next Wednesday. I'm stoked!

  4. In general, yes! In my life . . . always! I don't think I'd be capable of handling myself if there ever ended up being nothing to do.

  8. You always have such great info...I always find new people to follow every time I come here! Which of course means more time blogging instead of what I'm supposed to be doing... eeeekk.

How's your querying going? I've sent 8 so far and got 2 nixes back already. Trying to see those as stepping stones to the "yes" that will someday adorn my email!
