Time the Deceiver

I can't believe it's the week of Thanksgiving. Seriously. Not to sound cliché, but where the heck did the time go? The old adage is something about the older you get, the faster time flies. It's totally true. And I guess the more responsibilities you have (i.e. kids) the more you miss the minutes passing because of multiple distractions.

I'm not sure if it's the crazy Texas weather (it still hasn't gotten too cold yet and we're expected to be in the mid seventies again tomorrow) or the fact I have an extra kid than I'm used to around this time-- or something else -- but Thanksgiving and the holiday season has definitely crept up with a sneak attack. I enjoyed a visit at "Granny's" today (my husbands grandmother that I've decided to adopt as my own), and she has two huge pecan trees in the front yard. Big A and I had so much fun rounding them up "like an Easter egg hunt!"

My husband, the awesome photographer, took beautiful pictures right before sunset (where the lighting is just perfect) and it was looking at these photo's afterwards that finally sparked the "Oh, it's Thanksgiving!" image in my head. So now, I'm starting to feel festive. I plan to bake several batches of the molasses cookies daughter and I made (should I share the recipe? They're scrumptious!) and for Turkey day, make my famous cranberry-orange sauce.

I'll be posting a Teaser Tuesday but other than that, I'll be back after stuffing myself with way too much food! Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. Good luck to any Turkey Trotters, to all the football fans (may your favorite team win!), and to a funtastic time to any who go to the parades.
