Happy Holidays!

Whatever you may celebrate, here's to you and to joy and happiness during this awesome season! I've missed blogging, horribly, I'm having withdrawals. Every time I do something interesting or think of something curious, you can imagine a little thought bubble pop up above my head saying: "Wish I could blog this!"

Today was a day spent baking. Complete, total, covered-in-flour, egg-on-my-hands, house-smelling-scrumptious, Betty Crocker baking. And It. Was. Awesome.

I'll admit it. I'm a nut for cooking. Do I do it much anymore? Hah! No. Not with a four-year-old and nearly walking almost 11-month-old. But I'm slowly getting close to where I use to be in terms of how much I actually cook. The holiday season is by far my favorite, favorite, FAVORITE time of year. Not just because I have an excuse to bake, mind you, but it is one of the reasons. And today I went wild. I made--ahem--invited my mom over to bake with me. Even big girl helped out. So with Christmas music chiming in the background, I made (feel free to sing this like "The 12 Days of Christmas", except, well, there's only 8 things!):

9 inches of molasses hard candy
8 dozen sugar cookies
7 mini-loaves of pumpkin bread
6 more of zucchini bread
Some awesome dark chocalate pretzel baaaark!
4 sheets of molasses cookies (tree and wreath shaped!)
3 dozen mud snowballs (a date mixture rolled in powdered sugar)
2 frozen cranberry pies
And a cranberry poppyseed loaf bread!

See? Kind of worked, if you rush some of the words, right? Right?? Right.

Is there anything left on your list to do? Being the over-eager planner that I am, I do believe I am safe to say I've gotten everything DONE! (Now I probably just jinxed myself). There's a few presents to wrap that would be wrapped if husband would have BOUGHT them by now (why is it men wait until the last minute? Seriously? You want to fight that traffic? Ick.)

I just sort of wish the season would be two months long instead of one. It's like, once you have everything in order and done, you have to take it all down and wait another year!

So tell me people, what's on your list?

  1. I'm with you! I love this season, when it's so cold, there are lights in all the windows and everyone is smiling. Why can't it be like this all the time?

I just made some Yule cookies last night. I will make some Yule mix next week, while I am off from work. Around writing, that is.

    *happy sigh*
